Rays of Hope (ROH) began in 1991 with a single project and now supports over 600 children in Alexandra. As a mission-centred community organisation, our focus revolves around the Whole Child Strategy which is actioned through three pillars of Early Childhood Development (ages 2-6), Education Support (Grades 1-11) and Psychosocial Support. Over the years, we’ve impacted thousands of lives, and this year is no different. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the RUC family for their consistent and generous support in financial and other means.

In addition to our ongoing mission work, we distribute food parcels for the needy and hundreds of blankets through our annual #WarmUpAlex campaign. We are grateful to the many who lovingly knitted blankets, scarves, and beanies to help bring some much-needed warmth during the icy winter. We are also providing facilities for the newly established Lesedi Community Church, which officially began in March 2024.

ROH is a registered NPC, PBO (able to issue S18A certificates), Level 1 BBBEE, funded by individuals and businesses. Like any non-profit organisation, we rely on ongoing financial support and invite you to consider partnering with us through the following:

  1. Raise-a-Child (Previously “Sponsor-a-Child”): Monthly contributions of R2000 (or any amount) can transform a child’s life by providing comprehensive support for a brighter future. These contributions cover:
    – Food parcels for families
    – School fees and educational excursions
    – Daily nutritious meals
    – Access to psychosocial support
    – Stationery packs
    – Educational toys, puzzles, and books
    – Weekly sandwiches and fruit
    – Additional tutoring for specialised subjects
  2. Food Hampers: A monthly contribution of R500 helps stock our pantry with essential non-perishable food items for over 20 families on our critical support list.
  3. 947 Cycle Challenge Fundraiser: Join our amazing cyclists in November and ride for ROH. We have a briefing session coming soon.
