Receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit
Preface
Do you sense that there’s something more to life? As a Christian are you frustrated at the lack of progress in your spiritual life, or perhaps worn out on religious activity? Are you constantly overwhelmed at the circumstances around you?
The way that the Bible speaks about the journey of Christianity seems so far removed from questions such as these. From the moment of our new birth as Christians, the picture painted in scripture of our new lives can perhaps be summed up in one word: Extraordinary. To be sure, the ‘ordinary’ features of everyday life remain: family responsibilities, work, community & recreation. But all of a sudden, after becoming a Christian, there seems to be an ‘extra’ added to the ‘ordinary’. Perhaps a ’super’ to the ’natural’. It’s life infused with a whole lot more.
This ‘Extraordinary life‘ is the life we now walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16). In this series we will be exploring this idea, by looking at snapshots of the Holy Spirit’s activity in a believers life. Over six weeks we will look at six key scriptures that refer to significant themes regarding the Holy Spirit, specifically related to how the work of the Holy Spirit intersects with our daily lives.
This remarkable promise seems too good to be true, perhaps unrealistic, or simply unattainable. It’s not. It’s simple, really. It’s God making Himself accessible to us, here and now. Let’s learn together to live the Extraordinary life.
