“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

In obedience to Jesus’ Great Commission, Rosebank Union Church actively supports the proclamation of the Gospel to all nations. We do this through prayer, financial support and through sending gifted and qualified people to serve.

We currently support 14 missionary families working in 10 different countries around the world. Their work ranges from support services through to Bible translation and church planting.

A Heart For Unreached People

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?
Romans 10:14-15

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Isaiah 6:8

Missions Ministry

Rosebank Union Church’s Missions ministry exists to help promote the world-wide proclamation of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to the obedience of faith among all nations by pursuing the fulfillments of Christ’s Great Commandment, and the Great Commission mandates, through evangelism, disciple making, church planting, and church leadership development. The special emphasis of the RUC missions ministry is on equipping and sending of missionaries to engage in cross-cultural contexts and un-reached people groups.

The vision of the Church is to grow the body of Christ, to develop believers, and to influence the world with the gospel message. In order to achieve our goal of being known as a ‘Centre for World Missions’ we seek to mobilize the whole church to take the whole gospel of Jesus Christ into the whole world.

Unreached People

An unreached or least-reached people is a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize that people group.

Unreached People of the Day

A SENDING Church

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!
Isaiah 6:8

Central to our mission as a church is to be a SENDING church. We want to send equipped people to the unreached peoples of the world with the good news about Jesus Christ for the glory of God and the joy of the world.

Why Global Missions?

The World Needs Jesus

Besides Jesus, there is no forgiveness of sin, no redemption, and no hope of reconciliation with God. Jesus said,

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6

Contrary to the image above – no amount of good works in this life can earn our salvation. The bible teaches that we are saved only by God’s grace:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”Ephesians 2:8-9

It‘s part of God’s Mission

World Christian Mission has its origin in God’s redemptive purpose for humanity and by calling of Abraham. God called him so that ultimately all the nations of the earth would be blessed through him.

“I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”

Genesis 12:1-3

God Desires it

As God’s labourers on earth, Christians should be dedicated to implementing His desires under His guidance through the word, prayer, and the empowering of the Holy Spirit. Our goals should be aligned with God’s to bring all men—from every people group—to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

“This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.”
1 Timothy 2:3-6

Jesus commanded it

As his disciples we take the Great Commissions as our commission, and his power and authority is just as relevant now as it was in the early church. His promise to be with his disciples always is till true for us today as we take the gospel to all nations.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”Matthew 28:18?20

The Holy Spirit Empowers it

While this Scripture had its immediate fulfilment at the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, we believe that all members of the body of Christ have received the Holy Spirit. It is this power that guarantees our ultimate success in carrying the gospel to the ends of the earth.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

It’s linked to the Second Coming

This Scripture tells us that the church is assigned the task of preaching the gospel of the kingdom throughout the whole world before it can rest in the joy of Jesus’ coming again. We are charged to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers; our responsibility as a church is to actively participate in missions and use our talents, spiritual and material gifts to help accelerate and finish the task.

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14
