Do you ever feel like you’re stuck in a rut or stalled in your journey towards spiritual maturity? It’s called the “Plateau Effect”. Progress is slow and your walk towards maturity can easily feel more like a duty than a delight.
Still others of us can arrogantly feel like we’ve arrived at maturity as we look at our self-made accomplishments. We’ve been walking the road of faith for so long and we’ve made so much progress that we wonder what new mountains there are to climb. But what if we’re not as far along the road as we like to think? What if our picture of spiritual maturity is a cheap counterfeit of the real thing?
Join us as we unpack the book of Philippians over 6 weeks. We learn best through models that we can see, hear and touch. The book of Philippians contains tremendous fuel for our faith in Christ. The church at Philippi has some wonderful parallels with our church in Johannesburg. The book is saturated with Christ and soaked with a profound example of what following Him looks like. It will be impossible to hear God’s truth and not be inspired with fresh resolve to experience the fullness of what being “in Christ” means.
The apostle Paul will show us that knowing Jesus changes everything!
May God use His truth to move us forward from stuck – from mediocrity to maturity! May we join Paul in saying: I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. (Philippians 3:12).
